Please help me come up with a cool LJ nick! :P

Flimgarde, a rather small-fry in Singapore's movie arena made me stand outside 5 mins before my show bcoz the previous show had not ended! The theater was good really... But the lack of time planning really baffles me.

Caught the best show I hv watched in a long long time, Wolverine! Its an action-packed but not gory, a good guy versus bad guy, a brotherly love conquers all sorta comic book movie. :) And the best part is, you need not be an X-men fan to understand it, which was my main worry in the first place. :)

Illuma, the new Bugis mall has kiap kiap machines with food (even Magnum ice-cream) in them and each try can cost you up to $3. Insane!!!!

I also learnt not be dumb and over complacent when I see a kiap kiap machine tt seems easy. I shld not hv let past victories cloud my judgement and logical thinking bcoz every try = money. Damn! Shld also learn to cut losses and not just foolishly drop coins just bcoz I hope I will be lucky in the nxt round. Gambler's mentality. Tsk!

Oh ya, I want to change this blog add coz its getting some what stale. Hee! Was thinking of moving onto livejournal bcoz of all the online shopping and sprees. *excitedness* But I lack the most impt thing, a nice, catchy and totally "me" nick tt is still available and under 15 characters.

clumzie
missfoodie
sugaredrainbows
tootydotdot

were all shot down by the sisters with mouths opened wide and incredulous, are-you-kidding-me, faces. Eeek!

My favourite girls turn adult!!!

First up was Yilynn's 2nd birthday celebration at Nihon Mura. Primary purpose was for us to meet her new boy, Julian!!! He is a chef! So tt is like pass our standards already! *greedy* :)

Actually, Meng, Cher and I were like talking abt impt university stuff while Ting our resident "mother" interrogated the poor boy. Hahahaha! But of course we all know she has our best interests at heart lah!! :P

All togther now... "Awwwwwwww!"

Then came Jiajin's Vintage Floral chalet!!!!!

Balloons, balloons, balloons!!! I likeee!

The reception.. Haha. Ivy really put in alot of effort into the pretty scrapbook where guests cld leave their messages. We also had to put $1 into the piggy bank for a chance to fill up a questionnaire abt the birthday girl with the bonus question being, "guess the no. of sweets in the frog!" :)

Joy loves food! HAHA!

Birthday girl with parents at the entrance to the chalet...

The weather was freaking hot and everyone was using paper plates as fans while I got drunk on fruit punch! Hehe!

This shot was fun coz Ting was actually fanning us below so our hair can *fly fly*!

Some of us were smart enough to hide upstairs in the aircon room!

Cake time!! Pretty birthday girl sure looks happy!

Upper sec classmates!!!!!!

Lower sec classmates!!! Haha.. It was only in photo time did I realise I am in all of Ann Jia Jin's Damai cliques. So qiao!

Photo with the lovessss!

Birthday kiss frm her boyfriend, Wilfred. *sweet*

Alot of witnesses to the "kiss"... Haha...

The cake is served and I got a BIG strawberry! 0.0

Khang Jing got the most answers correct so she won $29! Fyi, the frog had 78 sweets! Who wld hv guessed?!

But what are birthdays without presents? Shared this with Xinyu, Haz, Maz and Szerui. We even got a little book to write our birthday greetings. So much more value then a Hallmark card. :P

My favourite actor, Chew Chor Meng.

I am not the sort to follow drama serials (I usually watch a few episodes, skip to the last, if I like the ending then I watch the middle part bcoz why watch a lousy show right?). Unless of course the show have not been fully screened (I will then go buy the DVD if I really want to watch it, which is rare). So this accounts for the fact why I stopped at episode 6 of Rainie's new show, ToGetHer, although mysoju.com is now till episode 11 and everyone seems to adore it.

I don't know what happened really bcoz I used to be a huge couch potato just a couple of yrs ago. A TV junkie you call it? The type who wld would eat in front of the TV, brush teeth in front of the TV, watch TV before bathing, before homework and before abt everything else lah. :X

But frm back then till now, my whole family hv suddenly stopped watching television! Even though daddy subscribes to practically every single cable channel and I hv my own TV in my own room ALSO WITH CABLE!! In fact, we watch so infrequently tt the old (4 yrs only) plasma died frm under usage. Don't ask me how....... The buttons just froze due to inactivity I suppose? (-_-")

Even though mommy was pretty prompt in chucking the old one out and replacing it with a kick-ass new 52 inch high-definition Samsung and even splashed on a bunch of whole new all-surround sound speakers bcoz the v eloquent and bull-shitty sales promoter convinced her tt our old ones (also all-surround sound) is obsolete and more importantly, its silver and doesn't match the new black TV. Zzzz!

But still we don't watch TV! Nada!

So it amazes me tt I actually sat through 3 hrs of "Star Awards" last night when I knew nuts abt the shows tt were winning. Seriously, I caught like 3 episodes of the hyped up Nonya show? Yeah, ONLY 3 EPISODES! And tt was only coz I was at the cousin's place and they were hooked. So I seriously hv no idea who deserved to win or not. Only I don't like Jeanette Aw (but I must admit she really is pretty) so I was quite delighted she didn't win Best Actress. HAHAHA!

Anyway, the whole purpose of this entry is abt Chew Chor Meng. From since I could rmbr, he was my fav actor like forever?? I always wrote his name under "favorite actor" in those pri sch autograph books lor. I laughed when he was the comical Ah Bee in 敢敢做个开心人. I laughed again when he starred as Mr Kiasu. I was so used to seeing him young, energetic, cheerful and well, god damn funny.

So I was shocked when he stumbled on stage to claim the Best Supporting Actor prize last night. Partially limping, with a slight slur to his voice and with his facial expresssion down, I nearly cried. I mean I read he has gotten some muscular atrophy disease frm the newspapers like since last yr? But I just didn't expect it to be so obvious, so real, so in-my-face, painful.

He really deserves his award. Not for sympathy but for being strong and professional in wrapping up filming, for the courage to turn up at huge media events (like last night) even though his movements was already badly affecting him physically. In my opinion, he has just become an even greater role model and I believe this view is not just mine alone.

A few hrs ago I was having Sakae buffet with Ting and Cher. Naturally the conversation was brought to last night's show and Cher remarked: "If MediaCorp dared to beep 周初明 before he finish his speech, I confirm write in to shoot them!" Hahaha...

He said: "In the first half of my life, I've been leading a real fruitful one. I didn't have much experience in acting to start with and was not highly educated, but I was still able to make it big in my 10 years of showbiz career. Now that I'm into the second half of my life, I'm sure it will surpass the first, and this is no longer something that can be measured by the awards."

So touching, so positive, so brave!!!!!!!! :'( *feeling choked up again*

Dammit!!!! On a side note, The International was a good movie with a sucky ending. Very very very sucky ending. See!!!!! This is the reason why when I watch shows and read books, I go to the end first before I sit through the whole thing and end up disappointed and pissed off. Bahx!

But at least not the whole day was bad...

I got 2 new toys frm the kiap kiap machine. :)

You know there are 3 types of machines. The first 2 types commonly found in arcades are.........

2 plastic arms... Oldest type since my pri sch days..

The 3 flimsy long hook thingy usually used to catch bigger toys.

This 2 types hv pretty poor grips like 99.99% the toy even though caught will drop out when the claw retracts either bcoz 1) the toy is too heavy for the weak grip or 2) the claw shakes when it goes upwards, purposely dropping the toy. CHEAT!

But anyway, I loveee these machines and I hv no qualms abt pumping money to feed these rigged things bcoz the toy inside keep adorably calling out to me, "come Joy! Come catch me!" Darn it! Stupid cute things!

BUT out of the 6 toys I hv amassed over the past few mths, 4 was caught by this new net machine! Its a 100% track record. 4 times tried, 4 times caught. And even Darren caught 2 winnie the pooh in just 1 try!

This net has a metal chain below which closes when it goes up. However, even though the grip is still pretty shaky, nets hv holes!!! So the toy somehow always end up stuck. So viola~! I likeeeeee!!! :D

Me: Muahahaha! Fat bird, I want you, I got you!
Fat bird: Me is owl, me not fat bird!
Me: You are fat what!
Fat bird: Me is round. Round is a shape. Me is SHAPELY!
Me: Circle is a shape. Round is just... Round!
Fat bird: *runs under my chest of drawers wailing*

Wait, he got stuck so................

HAHA! FAT BIRD!

Okay, lame.. Good night to the few of you who still bother to read this blog. :)

P/S: Remind me to rescue the poor fat bird tmr! Muahahaaa!

Planning the departure with mixed feelings.

Will update abt Jiajin's 21st chalet aft I dutifully save Ting's photos off facebook. Sighs, what happen to the good old days where ppl will just zip the file and take forever to send me via msn? Irritating as tt was, now its "all up on facebook!!!" which is irritating too bcoz I keep forgetting to get them. Sheesh!

Crystal Jade Xiao Long Baos really got standard! Best I hv eaten in Singapore so far.... :)

刀削面 in sour spicy soup. YUMMMMMM!

Dessert at Central's Waraku.....................................

The adult's Matcha Ice-cream..

Geri and me had Petit ice-cream blah blah blah... Love it! :)

Geraldine and her mom, Aunty Esther..

We met to discuss abt Australia since she will be going to Queensland too. The accomodation we are considering are pretty similar only our schs are on opposite river banks so bunking tgt may not be tt feasible. :(

Anywayyyyyy, I hv convinced Mama to take me to Sydney! So I can shop for my winter stuff there before I commence sch. Hopefully Aunty Esther can buy the tickets soon so we can all go tgt just like when we were younger!!!! :)

Oh, also went to Liang Court's Meidiya with mommy! We bought alot of awesome Japanese snacks.. Going to go back there again to buy my "instant" stuff to bring over to Aust. Japanese are best for making food out of the packet. Woots~!

Going to the zoo, Zoo, ZOO!!!!!

On the 8th of April, I went to the ZOOOOOO! Haha. It was a very random and spontaneous thing to do which resulted in me taking the first bus down to Ang Mo Kio when the sky was still dark and reaching with the sun high up already. :X

Met up with Darren and his tuition friends. Didn't expect the day to be so so so much fun and the ppl to be so awesome. I really had a great day, so much so when I tooked the photo's off Elizabeth's facebook, I couldn't help smiling... :)

We were among the first to reach save for a handful of tourists.

The guys: Andrew, Christon and Darren
The girls: Xinyun, Elizabeth and Me!!!

I started the day out laughing pretty bad. Haha!

Cool signboards for illiterates! :P

Some herb garden with a v nice name (unfortunately I forgot). Something like "garden with a view"?

Nice nice nice Seletar Reservoir.

Giraffe: "However you girls stretch, you are no match for me!"

Random shot~!

All the drinks were like $3 and above even for mineral water, so freaking ex. I would rather pay $10 for Ben and Jerry's milkshake. At least its not some rip-off tourist price. ZZZ! Okayyy, my priorities are abit off.

Kanga land! Okay, its called Down Under blahblahblah. Probably will see alot of these when I go the Brisbane.

Help! Let us in.................

Totem gods.

Transporting Darren to neverneverland where Peter Pan and little children nv grow up. Muahahaha!

New species?

The legendary Big Foot leaves the Alpine Mountains for the Deserts! 0_o"

Poor Kangaroo capable of jumping 13 metres but kept in a too small enclosure. :(

*squish squish squish*

Xinyun: "Here boy, I hv foooooooooooood."

It took ages for the poor Kangaroo to stand on its hind legs and since it couldn't jump, it just kept dragging itself along. So poor thing....

Emu also known more crudely as "Big Bird"! Sesame Street anyone?

At the Fragile Forest, I saw a family of I dunno what, skunks? Got baby somemore.

And alot alot of pretty butterflies!

In some exhibit.. They showed pestsssssss. The place smelled bad too!

Another statue, a hungry tortise so Xinyun fed it a pocky.

Are polar bears really tt huge?!

Cold blue waters which critics say is not cold enough for the polar bears who are actually suffering.... Animal cruelty!

Inuka. The bear cub breed at the Singapore Zoo. Apparently, he caused quite a controversy a few yrs back when his fur turned green? Now he may not get to stay in Singapore and we could well lose our Polar Bear exhibit entirely. Lucky I saw him already. :D

Sealion = Water show without fail!!!!

Goofing around...

Cute like wear-tuxedo penguins.

Elizabeth, Christon and Andrew.

Xinyun, Darren and Me, sitting on steps bcoz the place was packed.

Smart smart!

Monkey high up.

Monkey low down.

Stuffed monkey.

Monkey in photograph.

Monkey in drawing.

Monkey with red backside.

Elizabeth tagged the butt "Andrew" in facebook. Damn funny!

Be afraid........................................ Be very afraid.....................

The white tigers tt ate tt cleaner or something. I think they are the same ones coz I heard alot of ppl commenting while we were there.

Couldn't find the yellow tigers, Andrew's fav animal, so he settled for the tiger-imitation rubbish bin. :P

The king of the jungle sitting on Andrew's shoulder. Bwahaha!

Very, super, extremely, shagged out. Was so tempted to take the tram or the ferry to get back to the entrance at extra cost of course...

Mousedeer who looks nothing like a mouse and nothing like a deer. Heh!

In the Pets Corner.. PIG goes Oink!

Forgot the animal they were trying to pose with. Oops!

Dark photo of us trying to copy the hippos. I was too lazy to edit them before uploading. Lalala~

The evolution process!

Pygmy Hippos are known as water ballerinas.. But they seem quite clumsy to me. HAHAHA!

As still as a log... Did anyone notice the crocodile?

Urrrgh! Heavy!

Bye bye zoo! We had a blast!
